Thursday

Today Luzita met with the neurosurgeon, Jamie Henderson who shaved her head and inserted the 5 screws in the scalp. These screws will serve as the a guidance system during the surgery. He's very positive and encouraging and Luz feels very confident in his abilities.

She also met with her massage therapist who will be with her throughout the surgery. She is very pleased about a change that occurred as a result of the change in scheduled time of surgery.

Last week, Luzita received a call from an abrupt and very business like man who informed her that he would be her massage therapist during the surgery, and that he would see her then.

When they got off the phone, Luzita found herself wishing the massage therapist was a woman. She felt no connection to the person who had called her.

When she arrived at the hospital this morning, she met with a lovely woman, who introduced herself as the massage therapist that would be taking over. She and Luz had a long conversation about the spiritual aspects of massage, John of God, their approach to life and the body. They had a complete connection. Luzita is so pleased with this change and now feels completely at ease with her team. None of us are surprised that the miracles just continue to bless us all and especially Luzita as we approach tomorrow.

There will be 15 people involved in the surgery and it is expected to take 4 to 6 hours.

She is thrilled to have Megan, Nan, Sierra and Marisa here with her. Her surgery is now scheduled for admittance at 9:30AM on Friday, Tomorrow, with the surgery starting at 11 AM. She will be held at the hospital for 24 hours after the completion of the surgery. We will be able to see her on Saturday afternoon around 4 PM.

There is an atrium just below the surgical room that contains a piano. There will be a concert at noon tomorrow. John and Megan hope to be able to play some music as well during the surgery.

We are posting pictures with captions from today.

  1. Dearest Luz,
A candle is burning bightly on my table sending you lots of love and light. Your sisters are all with you in spirit right now, and I know you can feel the love embracing you from our entwined hearts.
I must say that even though you have a shaved head and a gauze turban, you still are so very beautiful. You always shine like a star, and seeing your sweet smile in these pictures warmed my heart. You inspire us all with your strength and joy.

    Lots of love,
    Syd
